Old Orlu Divisional Union UK & Ireland

The idea of Old Orlu Divisional Union UK and Ireland came about in 1980s by Orlu people residing in the UK and Ireland, although the Union was eventually formed in 1990.

And the above was the main objective of forming the Union to cater for Orlu people living the UK and Ireland.

The words Old and Divisional linked to the Union name is to distinguish the Union from these new local governments being created by the national government. Thus, in 1960s, and 1970s Orlu used to be a Division comprising: Ideato, Isu, Njaba, Nkwerre, Nwangele, Orsu and Oru within the former Eastern Region in Nigeria. Although the above mentioned are now local government areas and with main Orlu local government area. Consequently, for not to confuse Orlu local government area with the Union, the words Old and Divisional are connected to the Union to mean that people from Ideato, Isu, Njaba, Nkwerre, Nwangele, Orsu and Oru can join the Union.

Since inception, the Union has been growing steadily especially when potential members hear of our benefits and manner of unity.

If you wish to join Old Orlu Divisional Union UK and Ireland, you can come to one of our meetings as an observer to make up your mind before registering at the next meeting. Meetings are held every two months (bi-monthly) at our meeting venue near Walthamstow Central Underground and Bus Garage.
